Hi! We are Seidy and Teresa. Two Maya women who have been working
for several years with women in our region and in other places.
Seidy has been working at COMADEP for 13 years. She started working with
the women at the time that they were exiled in Mexico.The needs of the
women at that time were different from those encountered in the current
social and political setting.

In Guatemala historically the women have been been marginated for two reasons: for being women and for being indigenous. To revert this cultural situation is very difficult. Gradually, however, the women have gained consciousness and their situation has improved tremendeously.
In the end however only one thing counts:
what happens in practice! In which way do these projects mean a concrete
improvement to these women's lives?
